Description:

EDUCATION

  • Degree in Media Studies, Digital Communications, or Marketing
  • Certification in Project Management, Web Development or Multimedia Design and Production
  • AODA Training

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in identifying and addressing client needs by articulating digital communication strategies that address operational gaps, ensuring alignment between departmental and digital communication strategies.
  • Designing, creating, and updating digital communications components including websites, videos, photos, graphics and social media accounts to ensure they are innovative in their use of secure technology and accessibility standards (AODA, WCAG 2.0).
  • Blogging, tweeting, photo sharing, social bookmarking, commenting, analytics and content production across online channels.
  • Problem solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Promotion planning and writing skills.
  • Fluency in web languages and platforms (JQuery, JavaScript, HTML, Adobe Master Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign), CSS, PHP, mySQL, etc). Work experience with the Drupal 7+ CMS
  • Commitment and working knowledge to support Humber’s principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Familiarity with the academic cycle, will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

The Digital Communications Coordinator role is a strategic member of the Innovative Learning (IL) team and is a significant contributor to the shaping of the public image of faculty supports and services available at Humber. Reporting to the Dean, Innovative Learning, the incumbent assists with establishing, implementing, and maintaining a digital communication strategy to optimize the promotion of service offerings to faculty, students and administrators across Humber with specific goals for increased faculty engagement in support of Humber Inspired, and our Academic Plan.
The Digital Communications Coordinator will be responsible to ensure high standards for functionality and usability of IL’s digital communications, provide ongoing peer mentoring and support for IL staff responsible for individual digital content, and maintain/update a digital communications plan including but not limited to the digital content creation, multimedia management, creating dynamic presentations, website maintenance and support the creation of social media assets, print production, producing live & pre-recorded video, photography & digital image editing of IL digital communications. The incumbent will be able to balance the digital storytelling aspect of communications while offering technical expertise and support to ensure that IL is forward-thinking and innovative in its use of technology.
