Reporting to the Design Manager, the Digital Construction Coordinator (DCC) works directly with project teams to assist in project delivery throughout design and construction utilizing Design and Construction Software tools on assigned projects. The successful candidate is responsible for implementing Bird’s national Digital Construction program by managing 3D models and related tools that are used for visualization, constructability analysis, building systems coordination and construction sequencing.
This position will be based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Support the successful execution of Bird’s Construction Projects
  • Support the National Digital Construction Program in development of hardware and software standards, standards for modeling, and maintaining a resource library when required
  • Support Bird’s mission and values as well as all policies and procedures
  • Perform various project duties related to project Digital Construction/BIM deployment as required
  • Perform Design coordination and assist in identifying constructability issues with the project team and subcontractors
  • Facilitate, in conjunction with the site team, the site logistics plan in a model environment and assist the site team in the development of schedule visualization models
  • Responsible as “Model Administrator” for assigned projects
  • Assist training project staff and subcontractors on Digital Construction/BIM related software and workflows as required
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by the East BIM/Digital Construction Manager
  • Maintain and facilitate models including structure, interior and exterior architectural elements and MEP systems
  • Coordinate with BIM service providers and subcontractors
  • Assist in the model development process to illustrate contractor questions and solutions
  • Coordinate 3D laser scans/point cloud models
  • Accumulate facilities management related information from project stakeholders for incorporation into Digital Construction/BIM model
  • Distribute new and revised models as applicable to Change Management documentation
  • Compile contract Digital Construction close out documentation as assigned
  • Work with the project team to develop and implement schedule visualization workflows
  • Educate and guide the site team on the workflows related to schedule visualization
  • Prepare 4D simulations on an ad-hoc basis
  • Assist the project teams to develop a healthy dialog with consultants and designers
  • Facilitate the timely and orderly collection and/or coordination of all consultant BIM models
  • Coordinate with consultant Model Managers and Coordinators, to clarify and update consultant design models
  • Lead and/or assist with model coordination meetings
  • Assist in the administration of the BIM Execution Plan as prescribed by either the Consultant or Client
  • Assist with updating, maintaining, and distributing documents to the field and subcontractors
  • Assist in the coordination of models with internal and external subcontractor detailers and modelers
  • Record coordination sign offs

What We Are Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental design, architectural engineering, construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent program, or relevant experience considered an asset
  • Relevant experience using Autodesk Revit, BIM360, and other Digital Construction related Software considered a strong asset
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents (e.g., drawings & specifications), scopes of work and project schedules
  • Understanding of various industrial and commercial construction techniques
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet work goals
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to use leading-edge technologies in the Digital Construction field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly motivated individual who embraces initiative and is results-oriented, leveraging strong interpersonal skills in their interactions with others
  • Ability to lead meetings with project and consultant teams
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactive working methodology
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships
