Description:

The Digital Content Developer will write, produce and edit digital content for the Museum’s digital platforms. The person will ensure that content published is accurate, current, interesting, accessible, appropriate for its intended audience and aligned with the Museum’s strategic objectives. This includes undertaking research and keeping abreast of new developments in digital technologies and content.
The successful candidate will work with the broader Digital team to understand the role of digital content as part of an entire stakeholder and user journey, or communications plan, to ensure a seamless and optimal experience. A key aspect of this role is working in partnership with the Museum’s design, multimedia and curatorial staff to collaborate on creative opportunities and content development for a range of digital platforms. This includes collating, re-purposing and adapting existing content to ensure efficiencies are achieved.
Using online analytics and data insights, the role will critically assess activity to inform decisions on new content development priorities and content design for search engine optimisation. The role will also have responsibility for managing feedback loops and approvals for new digital content in consultation with the Head, Digital.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the communication needs of cultural institutions together with a demonstrated high level of written communication skills and knowledge of the Australian Government Style Manual. They will combine their writing, editing and proofreading skills, preferably for digital delivery, with a sound understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn, the technical aspects of digital and content management systems. This includes production requirements for the use of text, images, audio and video content, and search engine optimisation. They will need a basic understanding of Photoshop and digital design best practice.
The successful applicant will also need a practical knowledge of the legal aspects of digital publishing, including copyright, moral rights, defamation and privacy issues.
The candidate will require demonstrated experience working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to cater to the needs of a wide range of audiences, and be able to assess priorities and respond appropriately to conflicting deadlines.
