Reporting to the Leader, Online Communications, the Digital Engagement Advisor serves on a high performance team in a fast-paced environment providing digital engagement advice and delivering strategic initiatives online. The Advisor is responsible for online strategies focused on external and internal audiences to ensure positive experiences for clients and a positive image for Island Health. The Advisor works closely with Leadership, Directors and colleagues to establish priorities and share responsibilities related to communication strategy and planning for assigned portfolios.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a university degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or Public Administration with three (3) to five (5) years recent, related experience in organizational and corporate communications, including experience with web-based content management systems and social media.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work effectively on a team in a fast paced environment with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to communicate technical and professional issues with various levels of internal and external personnel.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and respond with initiative.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a focus on journalistic writing and web-based content.
- Experience developing, implementing and evaluating website strategies and plans.
- Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and coding (including CSS, HTML)
- Understanding of complexity of health services and operations in British Columbia is an asset.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
