MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant qualifications in communications, marketing, design, media, technical, or other related subjects.
- Three to five years’ experience in digital roles, including content creation and strategy setting, preferably in a marketing, publishing or agency environment
- Demonstrated experience achieving impact (reaching, engaging and converting) with various audiences
- Expertise in two or more of the following: HTML, CSS, video/image editing and/or design (Photoshop) skills
- A ‘digital native’, highly competent across a broad spectrum of existing online technologies and an early adopter of new technologies
- Proven track record working with content management systems and marketing tech (preferably HubSpot) at an advanced level
- Proven success record in online communications and marketing
- Proficiency in online analytical tools (including Google Analytics, Tag Manager and Search Central tools etc)
- Able to turn data into clear strategic recommendations
- Working knowledge of SEO best practices
- Working knowledge of user experience (UX) design
- Experience of dealing with digital and creative agencies
- Project management and coordination skills, delivering multiple simultaneous projects
- Excellent written and spoken English – other language(s) an advantage
- Interest in conservation and environmental issues

Responsibilities:
Online and social media
- Enhance the performance and user experience of WWF online platforms against key metric & qualitative goals.
- Implement online and social media engagement strategies (including organic and paid social, search, programmatic).
- Stay current with emerging and developing trends in digital and social media communications and apply relevant opportunities to WWF’s online platforms.
- Advocate for and support the use of the WWF website CMS.
- Champion the use of HubSpot within the WWF and utilise its full capacity to grow and strategically segment WWF’s supporter base.
- Monitor and respond to user feedback and audience research to improve online platforms and content.
- Collaborate with the digital team, conservation communications, the broader communications unit as well as business development to ensure optimal promotion, treatment and distribution of online content (including news stories, blogs, landing pages, social media content and fundraising appeals etc.).
- Maintain, update and upgrade content on core platforms, including the WWF website and other properties i.e. Earth Hour and Journey of Water.
- Report on digital performance at required intervals (post-campaign, quarterly, year-end) as part of the team and organisation’s monitoring and evaluation.
Digital optimisation
- Manage digital projects and campaigns focusing on engagement and alignment with WWF’s marketing and communication goals.
- Work closely with the digital team (including social media and email) to manage multi variate testing of landing pages, testing and tracking of social media and development of supporter journeys and processes. Suggest techniques to improve conversion rates of online supporters.
- Develop methods of driving quality traffic to the website and increasing online activity in collaboration with the communications unit, business development, and external agencies.
- Act as a bridge between WWF South Africa and the Digital and Tech & Apps teams at WWF International.
Digital creative leadership
- Contribute creatively to the digital community within the communications team and the organisation, fostering an inspiring and creative environment.
- Identify, incubate and generate ideas and concepts, contributing to a culture of learning and innovation with the digital/communications team.
