Terms of Reference
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a full-time internship with the Digital Service under the Division of External Relations at UNHCR Copenhagen.
Established in December 1950, UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for asylum seekers, refugees, returnees, internally displaced communities and stateless people. Every year, millions of men, women and children are forced to flee their homes to escape conflict and persecution. UNHCR currently operates in over 130 countries, using its long expertise to protect and care for millions.

Organizational context
As part of the UNHCR Business Transformation Programme (BTP), UNHCR has adopted Salesforce as the platform for CRM implementation of fundraising and engagement and management. This is building upon existing development of the Salesforce Synergy platform developed by Digital Service (DS) to create an integrated engagement and relationship management tool across the organization.
This internship sits in the Salesforce (SF) global team in post go live and rollout support of UNHCR’s business transformation programme where SF is one of the main pillars, managing external relations. The role will be a supporting role in the next phase of the project which is to rollout Synergy to the Regional Bureaus and relevant country operations.
The incumbent will need to have knowledge, skills and some technical experience with Salesforce rollouts in support of fundraising, engagement & relationship management, and most importantly in support of project management for similar type initiatives.
The position
In this Salesforce rollout project, you will work closely with Project Manager on day to day, and with the rest of the project team including Project Owner, Change Manager, Architect, Product Manager, Business Analyst, Technical Lead, Testing Lead, and Training Lead. There is a large set of stakeholders to engage including different business groups in different geographical areas and related technologies (e.g. ERP, business process management database). The rollout requires great deal of coordination.

The main job is to aid project management. Secondary but also important is to be available to assist testing effort as a Salesforce tester.

The Project Support Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, execution, and monitoring of a Salesforce roll-out across UNHCR regions. This position involves coordinating project activities, managing documentation, and supporting effective follow-up among project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate project meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking action items.
  • Maintain project documentation, including project charters, status reports, and risk registers.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Support the identification and resolution of project issues and risks.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of project presentations and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with project management methodologies and best practices
  • Support in basic functional testing

Minimum qualifications required

In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
  • Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.

Desirable qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in a project support or administrative role, preferably within a technology environment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in and willing to learn project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Trello).
  • Familiarity with technology project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and frameworks (e.g., Prince2, PMLC).

Conditions
This is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team in Copenhagen.
For non-EU candidates, D-visa needs to be obtained before traveling to Denmark which takes 4 to 6 weeks. The office will provide assistance on visa-related issues.
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
