NMIS is seeking to appoint a R&D Engineer specialising on software development to be part of key digital initiatives including data visualisations, Extended Reality (XR) and Industrial Internet of things (IIoT). This role involves designing and implementing software solutions that enhance interactive digital experiences, streamline IoT connectivity, and create dynamic digital twins for manufacturing processes.
As an R&D Engineer within the Knowledge Exchange job category, as part of a wider knowledge exchange / research group or programme you will develop knowledge exchange objectives and proposals for your own or joint knowledge exchange activities and play a lead role in relation to a specific project/s or part of a broader project, with guidance from senior colleagues as required. You will conduct individual and/or collaborative knowledge exchange activities, including determining appropriate methods and contributing to the development of new knowledge exchange methods, continually reflecting on practice/methodology to enhance delivery to partners.
To be considered for the role, you will require the knowledge, skills and experience normally associated with a relevant PhD or you will be educated to Degree level in an appropriate discipline (computer science) with relevant experience in a similar role or you will have significant experience in a similar role. As a pivotal member of the Digital Team, you will contribute significantly to research programs that could range from developing interactive digital twins in XR or integration of IIoT data streams within industrial enterprises. Furthermore, active participation in academic research pertaining to one or more of these realms will be integral to the role’s responsibilities.
Whilst not essential for the role, applications are welcomed from candidates with: membership/working towards membership of a relevant Chartered/professional body (including the Higher Education Academy).
