DESCRIPTION
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Digital Twin Research Scientist to work in our Digital Twin Analytics Department. Our team works a 9x80 or 4x10 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. You will report to the Department Manager.
Be the principal investigator and technical lead over medium or large sized projects or major tasks within large projects. Lead team by providing technical and programmatic leadership to accomplish scope within cost and schedule. Liaison frequently with internal customer contacts and continue to grow external partner and customer network, including representing our organization externally and leading the development of new projects through proposals and business plans. Lead contributor to peer-reviewed journal articles, presentations, reports, and other professional activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
EX3 - Bachelor’s and 5 years of experience. Master’s and 2 years of experience. Ph.D and 2 years of experience.
EX4 - Bachelor’s and 9 years of experience. Master’s and 6 years of experience. Ph.D and 4 years of experience.
Assigned directorate, may require you to obtain and maintain a Q level security clearance. which requires US Citizenship.

Responsibilities:
Apply principles, theories, and concepts to develop and deploy technical solutions to mobile, embedded, desktop, web-based and hosted capabilities in the support of programmatic goals.
Apply software engineering principles, theories and concepts to complex analytical processes and information display and visualization.
Use modeling and simulation to address complex problems across multiple different fields. These fields may include nuclear, chemistry, digital twins, critical infrastructure, energy delivery, and energy security applications.
Analyze, test, modify, document, and maintain models or simulation-based systems related to scientific domains, including nuclear applications.
Implement assigned computational analysis/modeling tasks.
Make preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives.
Develop and review designs, requirement definitions, operations, documentation, and testing processes.
Increase, program, and develop software using appropriate technologies for the application (which may include MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++/C#, Python, Julia).
Continuously enhance your skills with cutting-edge technology.
Provide consultation services to our teams in applicable technologies, requirement definitions, operations, and testing.
Deliver high-quality product features exceeding client expectations.
May mentor junior level staff and lead groups.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
