Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dining Room Supervisor is responsible for planning and overseeing the Lifestyle Options Dining Room department to facilitate the delivery of high-quality food and beverages and exceptional customer service.
What You Bring to the Role:
- Five (5) years’ experience in food services required.
- One (1) year experience in leadership role required.
- Exceptionally strong customer service experience required.
- Exceptionally strong coaching and mentorship skills required.
- Proficient in computer skills required.
- Strong written and verbal English skills to effectively communicate with all residents, visitors and at all levels within the organization required.
- ProServe Liquor Staff Training (if applicable for building) required.
- Banquet knowledge an asset.
- Past experience working in a senior’s environment an asset.
- Demonstrate integrity in all actions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and demonstrate professional ethics.
- Ability to empathize with seniors.
- Ability to make independent decisions and apply them.
- Ability to foster a collaborative relationship between the Dining Room department and other building departments.
Your Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the Dining Room department and “Front of House” Food Services, including the space set up/appearance/cleanliness, management of dining staff and the overall dining experience of residents and guests.
- Actively works towards improving the Dining Room department, including bringing creative ideas and recommendations on how to elevate the dining experience, procedures and processes to the Site Manager and Executive Chef.
- A ‘working supervisor’ on the floor, acting as a role model to dining staff and demonstrating ideal meal service standards.
- Always greet residents with a smile and if possible, call them by name.
- Demonstrate respect to the residents and cater to their needs and requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional presence and demeanor.
- Inquiring about resident and guest satisfaction with food and dining experience.
- Engage in friendly, polite conversation with residents.
- Monitor the activities of all serving staff and give instruction, advice and feedback as needed.
- Ensure proper training of new staff.
- Ensure that dining room staff is adhering to company procedures and policies.
- Ensure correct staffing levels are maintained.
- Create dining room staff schedules in Advanced Tracker system and distribute to staff.
- Coordinates the set-up of the dining room for meal service.
- Calmly and quickly detect potential guest problems and dissatisfactions. Listen to the concerns and suggestions of the residents. Eliminate issues or escalate them to the Site Manager or Executive Chef.
- Dividing the work into specific tasks and assigning those tasks amongst the dining room staff. Observing the staff to ensure the tasks are being performed according to instruction.
- Perform a variety of supervisory paperwork, such as WCB, time off requests, etc.
- Calculate and submit Dining Room - Room Charges to Site Administrator each month.
- Follow Health and Safety policies and procedures/ report related concerns/ assist with hazard assessments.
- Delegate dietary requirements, by creating dietary profile (as per AHS Case Manager), discuss with team, and visibly post..
