JOB SUMMARY

Are you an experienced and dynamic Project Manager? Our Project Management Office function within MOD’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is growing. We are looking for a forward thinking, dynamic and self-motivated Project Delivery Manager (PDM) to join our Southeast Project Management Office (PMO).
The PDM role is pivotal in the reporting and delivery of all projects assigned to them. This covers a wide ranging and diverse portfolio of building and infrastructure projects, with values ranging from £50K to in excess of £5M. Utilising mature processes and procedures the postholder acts as the client (MOD) lead for a range of construction projects, including; life-cycle replacement works, sustainability studies, refurbishment works and much more - from conception into delivery, working with our military partners to define project scope and ensure works are delivered to time, cost and quality, working closely with our industry partner.
DIO cares for, and manages, the Defence estate, both within the UK and Overseas, enabling Defence to live, work, train and deploy. We work as one team, offering excellent advice and providing outstanding delivery to our customers.
In the PMO we sit within Regional Delivery, responsible for safe and efficient delivery of our programme across the Southeast operational military estate, working on a wide range of projects, from runway resurfacing to office redevelopment, equine infrastructure to dining facility improvements and technical facilities to historic buildings.
As we experience increasing demands from our customers, this is an exciting time to join the team and work on our upcoming infrastructure projects. Our successful PDM will be able to draw on support from the PMO and wider DIO group, for the delivery of building and infrastructure related projects.
We are looking for the right person, who we will further develop/train into the role.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Building and leading the integrated project team to deliver the agreed project outcomes, including line management responsibilities where required.
  • Monitoring of industry partner performance against agreed achievements and Key Performance measures, including the production of regular progress reports for assigned projects.
  • Collaborating closely with other PDMs on projects within their areas and regularly ensuring the updating of key project data within our Information Management Systems.
  • Leading on the management of risk on their projects, including the implementation of risk mitigation/recovery measures where appropriate
  • Undertaking regular site supervision to ensure quality and compliance within programme schedules
  • Engaging with the customer and leading on the production of Business Cases for assigned projects where appropriate and monitoring the delivery of the planned benefits.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor, providing customers with professional estate advice and support as necessary.
  • Sharing standard methodology and best practice with colleagues
  • Conducting post project evaluations and preparing lessons learned

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
