Job Description: We are seeking an energetic, patient, thoughtful, and outgoing Direct Support Professional to support & assist an individual in the surrounding community. You will teach all community safety & awareness, social interactions & self-help skills. The supported individual will need support in engaging in activities based on their interests, such as arts and crafts, music, or sports. Additionally, they will require assistance in socializing with others in the community, fostering meaningful connections and relationships. Furthermore, you will be responsible for supporting the individual in maintaining their physical fitness through regular exercise routines and outdoor activities.
Work Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to an individual in their home & community whom has a diagnosis of Autism or other developmental disabilities & has limited safety awareness.
  • Implement the individuals Support Plan as developed
  • Provide the necessary accommodations to support an individual with various challenges (behavioral, physical, communication, etc.) within their home and community
  • Support the individual to establish a daily/weekly schedule of activities.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for socially acceptable and culturally valued ways to interact and support each other to be successful
  • Participate hands-on in all activities
  • Assist and support the person to maintain their own personal safety and well-being
  • Provide information to family members about the unique needs of the individual to assist in the building of a more cohesive family unit.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of the organization and public locations of activities
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
