Description:

Position Overview
A member of Enterprise Risk Analytics, supporting all aspects of the team, with specific focus to on the governance and enhancement of RGA capital and risk management processes by examining risk distributions and capital adequacy for internal and external uses. Team member is to develop a deep understanding of RGA internal and rating agency capital models, leverage company expertise to maintain and improve assumptions and calculation and share knowledge of capital models with internal audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the ongoing development, maintenance, production, and enhancement of RGA’s Analytical framework and Principles-Based Economic Capital models
  • Coordinate teams of interdepartmental actuaries in the form of working groups to drive refinements to the capital framework.
  • Collaborate with various businesses and Corporate Modeling to better understand the key risks facing RGA and ensure that the Company is adequately capitalized for them. Review projection results to help uncover anomalies and shifts in the business, validating for reasonableness.
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations, Corporate Finance, and local business leads to produce rating agency capital models and support the management of rating agency capital.
  • Produce analytics and analysis to assist in driving key strategic decision making within RGA.
  • Support Enterprise Model Risk Management efforts by performing independent model validation according to the model validation plan and participate in the quantification of model risk.
  • Apply investigative skill and analytical methods to look behind the numbers, assess business impacts, and make recommendations.
  • Collaborate with risk management associates to describe current company risk management practices and plans, and help identify any shortfalls
  • Assist other team members with data compilation, validation and analysis related to capital production, analysis and management.
  • Performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, or related field
  • Near or new FSA
  • 8+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance
  • Advanced PC and technical skills
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
  • Advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
  • Expert ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
