Description:
OVERVIEW
Reporting to the CTO ( Chief Technical Officer), the Director, Architecture & Engineering is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization’s enterprise architecture to ensure platforms stability, data integrity, security, accessibility and protection. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leadership and management of existing technologies and solutions as well as new CM enterprise initiatives. You will play a key role in shaping our platforms infrastructure, data infrastructure, public and private clouds, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency. You will be working closely with the Product, PMO, Finance, Data Governance and Legal team to ensure compliance with current regulations and policies. Additionally, you will lead a team of data engineers and architects, infrastructure engineers, software engineers to develop, integrate, and deploy new solutions and data integrations including support for analytics and machine learning models.
EDUCATION
- Post graduate degree and research experience from a technical discipline, preferably engineering or computer science.
EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of solid network and connections focused on industry R&D and adoption of cloud solutions, AI, data science, and related technologies.
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise solutions architecture, data architecture or data engineering, with significant experience designing and implementing sophisticated solutions, preferably involving modernizing platforms and data architecture, and resolving integration challenges
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- In-depth knowledge of AWS data services such as AWS Redshift, AWS Athena, and AWS S3 and SAP ABAP familiarity a plus
- Demonstrable experience leading a team including Architects, Engineers and Subject Matter Experts
- A comprehensive understanding of processes and supporting technologies for data warehousing, data transformation, data modeling, data visualization and analytics.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical external partners.
- Superb interpersonal skills, able to connect with individuals of a diverse set of backgrounds and technical levels.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, design and maintenance a scalable and robust enterprise-wide solutions and data architecture strategy that aligns with the organization’s business goals and objectives. Oversee and contribute to defining and implementation of platform and data standards, principles, and guidelines for data modelling, database design, and data integration.
- Manage a comprehensive roadmap of architecture change initiatives across the enterprise, detailing current and target states, leading enterprise architecture governance forums, and ensuring stakeholders are briefed and aligned on improvement plans.
- Build and lead a high-performance team of architects, data engineers, software developers, and infrastructure engineers.
- Oversee and lead the team to design and create logical and physical data models that meet the requirements of various business functions. Identify and design efficient data integration solutions to facilitate seamless near real time data flow between different systems and platforms. Develop strategies for data collection, extraction, transformation, and loading, ensuring high data quality and reliability.
- Integrate new technologies seamlessly into existing systems, ensuring interoperability and optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Operations, Product, Legal, Finance, and business units, to understand and address their technology needs.
- Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession planning for the team.
- Provide technical expertise for change initiatives, working with solution architects, technical architects, and product owners.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of current enterprise solutions and platforms, data models, data flows, data dictionaries, and technical specifications. Ensure that documentation is up to date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Promote and enforce data governance and security standards to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of our data.
- Be an advocate of systems security, protection principles, and ensure appropriate practices are included in all technical solutions.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of AI and ML strategies aligned with business objectives. Oversee the end-to-end process of building, training, and deploying machine learning models.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools in data management, AI, and ML, making informed recommendations for adoption.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of solutions, platforms, data and AI/ML initiatives, and promote data literacy across the organization.
