The Role
A member of a high performing, cross-functional commercial team. Accountable for driving both new client acquisition and expansion of existing customer relationships into our Drug Substance and Drug product business portfolio. Accountable for achieving individual commercial objectives and enabling those of the wider commercial team.
You will develop and execute a nimble territory strategy via your deep and early understanding of market-place dynamics and trends. You will self-build a robust Drug Substance and Drug Product business pipeline by spotting and nurturing project opportunities to fruition.You will understand and succinctly articulate a customer’s problem statement and work closely with subject matter experts to build a tailored solution.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Accountable for achieving sales target via an optimum volume and mix of profitable wins.
- Accountable for the whole business development process from lead generation to contract close. This to be delivered via close working relationships with SMEs, marketing, inside sales, legal and project management.
- Development of a cohesive, comprehensive territory strategy and its execution.
- Know your territory. Understand where the molecules are and at what stage of development. Be aware of what will be the next opportunity for us and when.
- The role requires a high level of travel for face-to-face client meetings, conferences and seminars.
- Understand the competitive landscape within your territory and develop tactics to exploit this to your advantage.
- Work closely with technical and operational colleagues to identify up-sell opportunities prior to and during program initiation.
- An ability to communicate with constant brevity and clarity is vital.
Qualifications and experience required for competent performance
- Educated to at least first-degree level in Chemistry or a relevant life science.
- 3-5 years’ experience in the CDMO sector with recent, demonstrable success selling. Drug Substance development and scale up manufacturing services across the biotech and pharma sectors.
- You will be a deal maker. Translating the client’s implied needs into a program of work wrapped in advantageous commercial terms will be second nature.
- An in-depth understanding of the drug development process.
- A current, fluent knowledge of the marketplace, clients and competitors.
- A high level of connectivity among decision makers and influencers across your territory.
- Ability to interact with empathy at all levels, C-suite downwards.
- Scientifically and commercially astute with an aptitude for thinking “outside the box”
- Self-starter, motivated with a hunger for new deals and a “can do” attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- This role is to be homebased servicing territory UK/Nordics.
