Job Purpose
SJ’s Singapore-based Global Marketing & Communications (GMC) team is looking for a Communications Director to lead group-level communications that build and advance the SJ brand on the international stage.
A key member of the GMC leadership team, the Communications Director operates like an editorial lead, responsible for all of SJ’s brand messaging across communication channels to shape the brand’s perception and reputation, working closely with internal stakeholders, senior leaders and other global and regional marketing & communications leads from business lines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement group-level communication strategies to establish the SJ brand globally
  • Responsible for PR, media, conferences, social media, internal communications
  • Act as “Editor-in-chief” of the brand narrative across all brand content. Ensure alignment of messaging and accuracy of brand positioning, tone of voice and brand personality in all content formats produced and distributed.
  • Identify and develop impactful brand stories that shape the day-to-day editorial calendar for SJ and its senior leaders.
  • Drive brand narrative development and reputation management and provide strategic advice to business line communications leads.
  • Establish a brand publisher system that helps optimise resources for production and channel management across the organisation.

Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in journalism/ media/ marketing/ advertising with at least five years of experience in a leadership-oriented role. Newsroom experience or previous in-house content production role a plus.

Position Requirements

  • Experienced writer with strong track record of published articles/ stories
  • Clear, concise English writing skills. Any additional language skills are a plus
  • Knowledge in social media management and trend analysis
  • Ability to craft compelling transmedia narratives that span across multiple platforms and media types.
  • Highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills to motivate and work cooperatively with others, at all levels
  • Creative and innovative, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Proven ability of being an exceptional team player, collaborating with multiple content owners and subject matter experts with different cultural backgrounds
  • Strong sense of ownership of results
  • Expert knowledge in data analytics and how to apply it effectively in the editorial strategy and decision-making process
  • Experience as assignment editor or sub-editor a plus
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, real estate or facilities management industries a plus
