Job Description :
The Compensation Director is responsible for overseeing, developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s compensation strategies. This role supports the attraction and retention of top talent by aligning compensation outcomes with performance goals.
Reporting into the VP, Total Rewards and HRIS, the Compensation Director regularly presents and recommends compensation programs enhancement and refinements and other strategic changes to the senior leadership team for all our Canadian and American companies.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10 years experience in Human Resources including 5 years experience in compensation or any combination of work an education deemed equivalent
- Proven experience in compensation management, with a strong understanding of market trends and compensation strategy.
- Experience in providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments.
- Experience in managing a team
- Experience in managing and administrating long-term incentive programs
- Experience in managing and administrating sales incentive programs (asset)
- Fluent in both spoken and written French and English; Cogeco operates in Ontario and the USA as well.
- Autonomy, initiative, judgment, and organizational skills;
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Good knowledge of computer tools, especially Excel and Google Suite.
- Experience with Workday software (asset)

Responsibilities:
- Oversees, designs, implements, and recommends compensation strategies that align with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
- Oversees, designs, implements and recommends any enhancements to the short-term and long-term incentives programs.
- Oversees the preparation and reviews all mandatory compensation related disclosure (Proxy Circular, IAS24, etc.)
- Develop and manage salary structures, incentive plans, and bonus programs to attract and retain high-performing employees.
- Oversee the administration of base salary, bonuses, and incentive plans, ensuring fairness and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Maintain internal equity by assessing pay structures and making data-driven recommendations to senior leaders for necessary adjustments.
- Oversees and participates in canadian federal pay equity committees activities for the company
- Is actively involved in special projects related to compensation, such as mergers and acquisitions, organizational restructuring, or system implementations
- Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and legal, on compensation-related initiatives.
- Provide training and development opportunities for Compensation team members.
- Ensures the compensation team is meeting performance standards and deadlines.
