What’s it like working as a Director, Credit Risk Strategy - Account Management?
Flexiti Financial is looking for a Director, Credit Risk Strategy - Account Management. Reporting to the VP Credit and Fraud Risk Management, the Director will lead a team that leverages data and analytics to develop and implement account management strategies for Flexiti’s private-label and general-purpose credit card portfolios. Account management strategies will manage credit risk of the portfolio of existing accounts and include: proactive credit limit management, adjudication of customer-initiated limit increases, credit related purchase authorizations, cross-sell\migration campaigns and card reissue. This position requires high attention to detail, sound judgment in the execution of credit strategies, superior analytical skills and exceptional communication skills. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals looking for a role with less structure, more ambiguity but the ability to create; while becoming an important contributor to an exciting up-start.

  • Develop, test and implement profitable account management strategies for Flexiti’s private-label and general-purpose credit card portfolios.
  • Provide subject mater expertise on managing credit risk in the non-delinquent portfolio.
  • Develop and implement adjudication criteria and processes for customer-requested limit increases.
  • Develop credit strategies and processes to support cross-sell\ migration campaigns, overlimit\cash advance purchase authorizations and card reissue.
  • Own the credit bureau refresh and reporting processes.
  • Develop and implement credit risk segmentation, risk-ratings and scores for the non-delinquent portfolio.
  • Develop KPIs and implement reporting that provides visibility and insights into the credit risk of the portfolio and detects emerging credit-related trends.
  • Incorporate appropriated industry benchmarks into the portfolio reporting suite.
  • Implement appropriate monitoring of existing accounts to ensure that they are appropriately status-ed.
  • Identify and escalate material credit risks and trends.
  • Produce actionable business insights through the analysis of large amounts of data.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure credit and call-centre demands stemming from account management strategies are optimized.
  • Support Legal and Compliance to deliver AML and reporting regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including those in Risk Management, Software Development, Product Management and Operations.

So are YOU our next Director, Credit Risk Strategy - Account Management? You are if you have…

  • University Degree in a quantitative field, economics, business, engineering or equivalent.
  • Combined minimum of 8+ years of experience analyzing credit card data, implementing credit risk strategies, and making strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Strong understanding of consumer credit card industry and products, credit card business fundamentals, knowledge of P&L reporting and the credit card lifecycle.
  • Experience with credit card platforms such as TSYS, FDR or similar system, parameter settings and rules management.
  • Experience with strategy development tools such as PowerCurve or TRIAD.
  • Strong statistical knowledge with a proven track record of working with other business leaders from across the organization to drive analytically based strategies.
  • Experience with machine learning and predictive model development and application.
  • Knowledge of credit card data and Key Performance metrics.
  • Portfolio conversion experience an asset.
  • Previous people management experience.

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Someone who can work independently and likes to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.
  • Excellent communicator who will leverage strong oral and written communication skills to effectively present key findings to senior management and other team members.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong work ethic, curious and persistent determination in reviewing and reconciling variances. Highly organized, detail-oriented and can initiate proactively.

  • Desire to take full ownership of deliverables and be accountable for results.
  • Ability to produce deliverables accurately and on time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and provide explanations and make recommendations based on analysis
  • Willingness and ability to continually improve processes and document procedures.
  • Flexibility to adapt to an evolving environment with shifting priorities with the capacity to handle multiple competing demands and meet tight turnaround timelines.
  • Bonus – Earned experience developing technology products in an award-winning Fintech ‘startup.’
