About the role
As ATB’s next Director, Credit Structuring & Execution, you will be a key contributor to the ATB Capital Markets multi-coverage model platform. Working closely with Corporate Banking Directors, reporting to the Managing Director - Credit Portfolio, you will deliver credit products and solutions with expert advisory services to the client. From the original structuring of transactions to funding and ongoing maintenance of the relationship, you will be responsible for ATB Capital Market’s credit portfolio from start to finish. You are seen as a credit subject matter expert and have a passion for execution and attention to detail. Your strong time management skills and ability to prioritize allow you to exceed client expectations while working collaboratively with ATB Capital Markets partners.
Accountabilities

Accountabilities and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Contributing to the overall financial targets of ATB Capital Markets.
  • Ensure new opportunities identified in customer interactions are addressed and/or are appropriately escalated to the Director, Corporate Banking
  • Collaboration and coordination with the Director, Corporate Banking on pricing, Internal Memorandums and Board Memos.
  • Owning the deal structure and credit for ATB Capital Markets Clients. This includes new borrower, increases and material amendment credit submissions (in consultation / confirmation with the Director, Corporate Banking).
  • Structuring, preparation and completion of term sheets, loan advisories and applications for credit.
  • Use of client relationship management platform to capture all required client information, call reports and identified business opportunities / referrals.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all credit products internal and external. When required, participation in Lender’s meeting and/or leading such meetings when necessary. Attending client events / site visits when required and in collaboration with the Director, Corporate Banking.
  • Client interactions at various levels to ensure flawless execution of requests and needs from start to finish. Quickly gathering required information and finding a solution.
  • Negotiation and completion of all loan documentation and security, including Financial Markets product documentation (i.e. ISDA, etc)
  • All functions related to the underwriting (economic, industry, borrower and financial / sensitivity analysis), onboarding and fulfillment of Credit related products.
  • Leverage internal and external partners in collaboration with the Director, Corporate Banking to meet client needs.
  • Acts as a “go-to” person for credit topics and provides guidance and leadership to Capital Markets Associate Directors and peers.
  • Maintaining relationships with 3rd parties (Agents, Syndicate Leads / Participant banks, Solicitors, Industry experts, Technical advisors).
  • Oversight and completeness of all compliance activities on your Credit portfolio.
  • Portfolio Health: effectively managing the following but not limited to:
  • Minimize the risk related to loan loss provisions by managing your credit portfolio at an acceptable level
  • Client renewals/expiries
  • Ultimate responsibility for accuracy and completion of Margining and Covenants
  • Timely reporting and action of any deteriorating credit conditions (Covenants or otherwise).
  • Monitoring Overdrafts/Wire Transfers
  • Overseeing reporting / following on late items.
  • Ensuring Security / Collateral and Loan Documentation are complete and in good standing
  • Execution of Fundings / Signing off on Conditions Precedent to Funding.
  • Following up on internal audit or secondary file review items.
  • Maintaining and reporting on the corporate health of the Portfolio. Engaging internal and external partners in a timely manner when required.
  • Actively manage and resolve arrears and debt recovery
  • Assist in project work as appropriate.

Skills, experience & requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a Commercial / Corporate Banking environment and/or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in Senior Debt and/or Structured Debt solutions
  • Strong understanding of credit and security documentation
  • Strong financial and risk analysis skills with good understanding of accounting standards and financial modeling
  • MBA / CFA / CPA / CBV are considered an asset
