POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the AVP, Data Management the Director, Data Assets will work with data producers and consumers to ensure data assets are of high quality and accessible.
Working closely with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors this role will develop and implement data management strategies, policies and procedures in alignment with the organization’s goals, policies, and regulatory requirements. In addition, the Director, Data Assets is accountable for 3rd party vendor relationship ownership and management as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years experience within Financial Services with 5-7 years of experience in data management.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, and data security principles.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience negotiating contracts and managing vendors.
  • Extensive experience leading the delivery of projects with a history of introducing or enhancing capabilities, reducing costs, and improving resilience in support of changing business demands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership ability, including the ability to drive change, and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., financial services)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure assigned data assets policies, standards, and procedures for data management are followed, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Define and maintain the responsibility model for all data assets without scope, throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in data practices. Manage day data operations, ensuring efficient and effective data delivery, including data acquisition, ingestion, transformation and dissemination, and monitor data operations performance metrics and KPY to identify areas of improvement.
  • Assist with developing and implementing data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, consistency, and security.
  • Assist with creating strategies that align data initiatives with organizational goals, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, Affiliates, and third-party vendors to design and maintain the data related aspects of business solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards.
  • Conduct and chair application meetings with various business teams and relationship management.
  • Assist in the preparation of project plans, securing appropriate input and cooperation of both internal and external parties, monitoring progress against project deliverables and update project plans to reflect changes.
  • Accountable for the building and managing the relationship with service providers; including contracts, statements of work, ongoing financial management. Also acts as a first point of contact for business and service providers to bridge understanding between the two parties on data and flow of information. Assist with understanding of cost associated to various vendor relationships and applications in scope.
  • Ensure that CIBC Mellon service providers processes are fully integrated, ensuring accurate and timely flow of interdependent information, to facilitate communication and seamless delivery of vendor services to CIBC Mellon
  • Accountable for assessing the current state of the existing 3rd party vendors, identify opportunities to deliver increased business capability.
  • Partner with key leaders across business, technology, and vendors to develop strategic technology platform roadmap, establishing clear product requirements that deliver business and client value.
  • Assist in the review, prioritize, and plan for delivering on the roadmap, ensuring that all functional requirements, technical design elements, quality and resiliency of solutions and a sustainable funding model are addressed.
  • Manage modifications and enhancements to existing print platforms to address emerging business, security, resiliency, or regulatory requirements.
  • Report to senior management on the performance and effectiveness of data management initiatives
