REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, user experience design, anthropology, human factors engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  • 8-12 years of relevant work experience, including 3-5 years as a functional manager
  • In-depth knowledge of design research, qualitative research and /or the human centered design process/methods
  • Advanced understanding of Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Quality System regulations, European Active Implantable & Medical Device Regulations, and relevant medical device principles
  • In-depth knowledge of company people management policies and procedures, including hiring, performance management, corrective action, and compensation administration
  • Strong leadership skills including change management, people management, strategic thinking and influencing
  • In-depth understanding of participant moderation and observation methods, personas, customer journey/workflow maps, user need documentation, analysis/synthsis methods, and storytelling methods
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Expert ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and white boarding apps like Miro

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

Veranex has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Design Research in London. You will be part of a team working to improve lives globally through medical technology innovation. The Director of Design Research leads a team of design research practitioners in the execution of client deliverables across design research projects. Provides direction and leadership to the team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Directs project team members through the development and delivery of all aspects of project work.
  • Oversees all client communications on projects
  • Manages resource allocation for design research team and participates in cross-functional resource planning meetings.
  • Identifies and commits to the execution of internal opportunities for improvement and expansion of design research and strategy expertise, capabilities and resources.
  • Develops both short-term and long-term research business strategies (internal).
  • Sets budgets, manages workload forecasting, resource balancing and ensures optimal utilization.
  • Prepares reports, status updates, escalations, and communication for leadership. Interacts with senior leadership and major stakeholders to establish strategic plans and objectives.
  • Identifies hiring needs and drives candidate selection process.
  • Develops thought leadership through content creation/conference presentation that aligns to departmental objectives.
  • Leads the generation of project proposals while enabling thoughtful contributions from the team.
