Description:
The EMEA Scientific Director role drives the internal and external scientific engagement strategy for Abbott’s molecular diagnostics portfolio in EMEA, by strengthening relationships with external experts and academic research centres.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Appropriate scientific/medical qualification (Ph.D. required, fellowship in molecular biology and infectious disease desired).
- At least 6 years’ experience working with key experts, scientific organisations, and research centres in EU/EMEA/International or Global within Infectious Diseases.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills and ability to assimilate complex data.
- Experience working with diagnostics experts.
- Experience coordinating and setting up scientific symposia.
- Ability to travel throughout the region and have crucial conversations with key customers.
- Native English (or equivalent). Business Fluency in English mandatory, German Language a plus.
- Agile and able to cope with a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Executive presence and scientific face for Molecular Diagnostics at Abbott for the EMEA region.
- Leverages professional and credible relationships with external experts, scientific organisations, and research centres, to ensure credible and transparent scientific exchange with high scientific value. Develops scientifically rigorous strategic imperatives related to scientific engagement that support the addressing unmet medical needs and key scientific questions from the clinical and healthcare community.
- Derives and delivers a scientific exchange strategy for Molecular In Vitro Diagnostic products in relevant disease areas including activities such as scientific webinars, symposia, and other scientific exchange mechanisms to improve scientific knowledge within the clinical and healthcare community.
- Leads the scientific team responsible for executing and publishing scientific studies and for providing scientific support for direct customer interaction in different disease areas and technical disciplines.
- Delivers actionable insights to Global Scientific Affairs and cross-functional teams within Abbott.
- Drives scientific expert meetings and advisory boards to generate key scientific insights that meet unmet medical needs.
- Engage with Global Scientific Affairs, Marketing and Research and Development to facilitate a consistent scientific engagement strategy throughout the company in all scientific activities within relevant disease areas.
- Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted in compliance with all applicable local, global, and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, company policies and accepted standards of best practice.
