COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is required.
Additional certifications such as CMA or CFA are considered an asset.
Experience
10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
Proven experience in managing A/R, A/P, and general accounting functions.
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
Experience in the industrial distribution sector or a similar industry is an asset.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to financial data.

Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
Oversee A/R, A/P, and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions and reconciliation of accounts.
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with Canadian accounting standards.
Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury operations to support day-to-day business needs.
Monitor compliance with federal, provincial, and industry-specific regulations, including tax and financial reporting requirements.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Coordinate the preparation and submission of the annual budget in collaboration with department heads.
Develop and maintain financial forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Analyze variances between actual performance and budgeted targets, providing insights and recommendations to management.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and present accurate and insightful financial reports to the President, CFO, and leadership team.
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Promote best practices and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Ensure alignment and collaboration between finance and other departments, supporting company-wide objectives.
Strategic Support
Support the leadership team in evaluating business opportunities, including potential M&A initiatives.
Assist with financial modeling, due diligence, and integration planning when applicable.
Provide strategic recommendations to the President based on financial insights and market trends.
