Director, Head of Technology in R&D Competence Centre in Europe

As Head of Technology, you will be responsible for driving the development and deployment of new technologies, identifying emerging trends, and leveraging technical expertise to propel the organization to new heights of success and innovation.
What you’ll do
This role will play a pivotal part in shaping the technological future of Nilfisk, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving sustainable growth through technology advancements.

Your responsibilities will include to:

  • Provide strategic leadership in technology development, overseeing the research, design, and implementation of innovative solutions to address business needs and industry challenges.
  • Mentor a multidisciplinary team of technology experts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, conducting feasibility studies and risk assessments to guide investment decisions and technological adoption.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with business objectives, ensuring seamless integration and maximum impact.
  • Drive the development and execution of a technology roadmap, outlining key milestones, resource requirements, and timelines for the successful delivery of technology initiatives.
  • Stay on top of industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decision-making and maintain our competitive edge.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Travel is expected to be 30 – 50 days pr. year – mainly to our other international R&D centers, partners, and production sites.
Your new team
You will be reporting to the head of the R&D Competence Center in Europe, Johnny Overgaard, and you will be based in the main Nilfisk R&D center in Hadsund as of now. Towards the end of 2026 the site will relocate to Aalborg.
There is flexibility to work from home as we value work-life balance.
You will be part of the R&D Leadership Team in Europe which consists of Architects, Senior Projects Managers, and other senior R&D professionals within our product lines. All your team members in the R&D Leadership Team in Europe are located in the Hadsund office.
Some of your key stakeholders will be the 2 other Head of Competence Centers in respectively US and China, the SVP & VP’s of Product Management within various product lines and the VP of Digital Business.
You will not have any direct reports in this position, but there will be a lot of indirect leadership regarding influencing stakeholders, facilitating decision-making and be the key advisor in technology projects.
We value the experience you bring
To succeed in this role, we imagine that you have at least +10 years of experience working within the technology development area, with a focus on driving innovation and delivering technological solutions, preferably with experience in integrating mechanical, electrical and software solutions.
As there will be a lot of stakeholder management in this role, we imagine that you have great people management- and communication skills with the ability to inspirate and guide a diverse team of technical professionals.
We imagine that you have experience in managing R&D projects, technology roadmaps and cross-functional collaborations, as we would like to learn from you. You will have the key role in facilitating decision-making within cross-functional teams, so we imagine that you have great interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Additionally, we imagine that you have a great business acumen and can translate technical concepts into strategic business opportunities within your area of expertise.

What happens with your application?
We will look at your application and contact you for a phone interview if relevant. Hereafter, if there is a mutual match, we will invite you to an interview with the hiring manager. The 2nd interview will be 2 hour interview, where the first hour will be with an HR representative together with the manager where the focus is on a feedback session on a personality assessment. The 2nd hour will be spend on a case that you will receive prior to the interview. In this session, the hiring manager and a colleague will participate. The 3rd and final round of interviews will be an informal interview with the manager’s manager
