Description:
Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Director, Health and Safety, on a permanent basis on our Health, Safety & Compliance team. This position is a hybrid opportunity and is based in Saskatoon or Regina, SK.
We are looking for someone to provide strategic direction for the development, implementation, and long-term sustainability of all safety initiatives, driving a culture of safety across the organization. WHO YOU ARE:
You are looking for a career in Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) & Sustainability and:
- Have 10+ years of progressive safety management experience.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant program (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Are a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or similar designation would be considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Develop programs and policies to drive employee engagement in safety processes and evaluate auditing protocols to ensure effective program deployment and alignment with customer needs while monitoring outcomes, issues, KPIs, and performance metrics.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance in conducting a comprehensive safety resource audit for each operational area and thoroughly assess all health and safety elements.
- Conduct research on emerging trends and initiatives within health and safety to develop and continually update comprehensive health and safety strategies.
- Clarify responsibilities for health and safety matters and ensure the timely updating of incident reporting procedures.
- Review and evaluate the tools utilized for investigations and develop and oversee the reporting process for near misses while ensuring effective knowledge transfer for each incident and that the findings are communicated to team leaders.
- Oversee the development, implementation and sustainability of emergency response teams and associated programs, procedures and training requirements.
- Travel as required up to 25%.

You will work closely with your team of Health and Safety professionals as well as leaders across FCL, Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC), Co-op Ethanol Complex (CEC), and the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS). You will report into the Vice President, Health, Safety & Compliance on a team that strives to cultivate an enabling culture where passion for our health, safety, and compliance philosophy is shared and supported
