Salary: The salary range for this position is CAD $59.56/Hr. - CAD $85.62/Hr.
Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, Quality Practice Environments, the Director, Health Services & Clinical Research and Knowledge Translation leads the development of a long range Research and Knowledge Translation (KT) strategy of nursing and allied health research for Providence Health Care (PHC) through identifying key priorities for health services research and KT.
Key highlights of the role include:
- Providing leadership and expertise in the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of nursing and allied health research across PHC.
- Leading, cultivating and facilitating a range of research and KT activities, enhancing the use of evidence in practice and decision-making.
- Being an advocate and active role model for scholarly practice, raising the profile and engagement of research, evidence-informed practice/decision-making, and KT throughout the organization.
- Liaising, consulting and negotiating with various external health care organizations, universities and research entities, government agencies, and other external organizations regarding the continuing development and application of nursing and allied health research in a complex health system environment.
- Influencing, collaborating, and consulting with various internal and external partners including professional associations, academic institutions, regulatory funding bodies, and regional, national and international agencies to promote and advance nursing and allied health research, create partnerships and to raise the profile of nursing and allied health research at PHC and in the wider health care community.
What You Bring:
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ph.D. in nursing or other related discipline plus ten (10) years recent related experience in a healthcare or academic setting including research and writing in the area of nursing and/or allied health, extensive involvement in conducting or managing clinical research projects and facilitating and managing consultation processes, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current licensure or registration with appropriate licensing body.
- Appointment within the University of British Columbia or other British Columbia academic institution is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Comprehensive knowledge of interpersonal professional practice, education and standards and application to acute, residential and community environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of research policies, procedures, processes, methodologies and funding mechanisms.
- Comprehensive knowledge of evaluation and KT processes and methodologies.
- Comprehensive research experience with a proven track record in the conduct of applied research.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach staff on these skills.
- Demonstrated communication skills both verbally and in writing including the ability to make formal presentations and produce scholarly articles.
- Ability to utilize initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement plans and realize completion of desired outcomes.
- Broad knowledge of care delivery systems in primary, acute and residential settings.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional practice setting and promote interprofessional research as well as work effectively with other internal/external partners outside the organization such as academic and healthcare institutions, research entities and funding bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a champion for research and research activities.
- Effective facilitation, persuasion and negotiation skills to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Knowledge and skills in working with related computer applications such as word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management and database applications.
