JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the AVP Total Benefits, this role will lead the team accountable for delivering innovative benefit and well-being solutions for active and retired Canadian employees. Partners across HR functions, with our Sun Life business partners and external vendors to develop, implement and administer innovative, business-oriented solutions with measurable outcomes that optimize our financial investment and deliver a compelling Employee experience at moments that matter. Stays current in external trends, including technology and analytics/measurement advances and industry trends.
The incumbent will provide strong leadership, coaching and development to direct reports including Manager, Benefits & Well-Being (with four indirect reports) and two Total Benefit Project Leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Provides input to global Total Rewards philosophies and strategies.
- Designs and communicates Canadian Benefits and Well-Being programs (to approximately 12,000 employees) in alignment with business, HR, and Total Rewards priorities.
- Uses internal and external data to recommend innovation opportunities including new initiatives, process automation and investment in digital technologies.
- Develops clear outcomes and measurement approaches to assess impacts, iterate and continuously improve.
- Ensures programs are compliant with required legislation and ensures strong governance and records management processes are in place.
- Manages the renewals for our active and retiree refund accounting benefits plans and the development of the benefits and well-being programs budget for finance.
- Accountable for core administration processes including, 2nd level employee support, the annual re-enrollment process, tax slips for retirees, premium collection, payment and reconciliation, etc.
- Accountable for continuous improvements of documentation and automation of the day-to-day administration of benefits and well-being programs.
- Partners with Sun Life Canada Group Benefits and Retirement Services to evaluate and support the launch of new products and initiatives that support the health and well-being of our Employees and our Client Impact strategy.
- Works collaboratively with HR and Communications teams to develop and implement effective communication and change management plans to enhance the employee experience and perceived value of our programs.
- Monitors external developments and trends impacting Canadian employee benefits programs and proactively identifies strategies and tactics to respond.
- Key member of M&A teams for HR due diligence evaluation and implementation.
