Description:

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

The Human Resources Director leads the HR function across all divisions and support functions in the Netherlands, Belgium Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Luxembourg. The role acts as the face of HR to the business and manages the overall delivery of HR services to Abbott’s leaders and employees at all sites, by leading the local BHR team and by partnering with other HR functions (incl. Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Compensation & Benefits, Service Centre, Division HR).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • University degree required.
  • Min. 10 years HR experience in leadership HR role (HR Manager/HR Director or similar), incl. managing a diverse team in different locations and countries.
  • Foundational knowledge of HR practices and norms within the geography; with hands on experience in managing all HR aspects in a complex business environment across multiple locations and countries. Experience in both commercial and manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Ability to balance resources and priorities, with the capacity to translate business needs into a meaningful and actionable people strategy.
  • Strong relationship management capability with business and HR leaders, as well as employee representative groups.
  • Experience in successfully managing labour relations with employee representatives, authorities, Unions and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, resilience, and leadership presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary strategic partner to the business, developing HR strategies resulting in impactful business solutions.
  • Establishes and maintains trustful relationships, inspiring and motivating business leaders, management teams and HR partners.
  • Actively and regularly engages with Business Leaders, to understand current and upcoming business priorities/challenges of all divisions operating in the assigned region.
  • Drive, coordinate and ensure effective implementation of the HR agenda through the BAC and ACC.
  • Is an ambassador of the HR organization, representing the services and resources available to the business to help manage the collective reputation of the HR organization.
  • Regularly liaises with HR Practice Areas and Service Centre to ensure all elements of HR are successfully coordinated to meet business needs.
  • Leads and manages the local HR teams, oversees HR procedures, policies and programs to establish and maintain most effective and efficient HR service in full compliance with corporate policies and country regulations.
  • Continuously reviews HR capabilities in the countries, develops talent and improves succession plan strength. Proposes opportunities for further improvement and implements agreed plans.
  • Takes an active part in EMEA HR meetings by sharing insights and best practices to spike innovation.
  • Establishes and drives a trustful relationship with all employee representation bodies in the country. Is accountable for the outcome of consultations and negotiations with such bodies.
  • Leading yearly negotiations with unions on the CLA
  • Actively participates and represents the country in the European Employee Forum, based on the EU codetermination act.
  • Owns and manages the countries’ HR budgets.
  • Employer representative of the central works council in the Netherlands.
