WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 10+ years of experience in HR, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing HR professionals.
  • A proven track record of partnering with and driving the success of teams across both business strategy and frontline operations, including Sales, Customer Service, and Business Development, in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Strategic thinking that’s bold and innovative, combined with the humility to listen and adapt. You know how to influence senior leaders and drive change that’s aligned with our values.
  • Exceptional partnership skills – from C-level leaders to frontline managers – building trust, delivering feedback, and facilitating discussions at all levels come naturally to you.
  • Deep expertise in HR practices, including performance management, employee relations, organizational development, and change management.
  • A data-driven mindset with a passion for turning insights into action. You’re always looking for ways to improve and aren’t afraid to ask tough questions.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you ready to join a collaborative team of HRBP leaders who are redefining what it means to drive people success? As our third Director, HRBP at Thumbtack, you’ll be stepping into a role that’s pivotal in guiding and executing on our people strategy within a global context. You will be leading a focused team of two HRBPs based in the Philippines, together providing dedicated support to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) organization. Our broader HRBP team, which you’ll be a key part of, includes talented individuals across the US, Canada, and the Philippines, all working together to shape our company’s culture and Future of Work vision. Reporting to our VP of HR, you’ll provide strategic HR leadership and ensure our people strategy comes to life within your area of focus. We’re looking for someone who’s humble yet fiercely driven, ownership-oriented, and who can effortlessly give and receive feedback with grace and authenticity. If that sounds like you, let’s talk!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business & Strategic Leadership: Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, particularly the CCO and the CCO leadership team. You’ll bring your knowledge of functions like Sales, Customer Service, Business Development and other operational and frontline teams to the table, advising at the intersection of business and talent strategy and influencing key decisions related to team health, performance, organizational design and workforce planning.
  • Team Leadership and Development: You’ll be a part of a team of business-oriented HRBPs who are committed to making a real impact. Your leadership style should foster a culture of ownership, where everyone feels empowered to take charge of their work. You’ll encourage open, honest feedback—because that’s how we grow—and you won’t shy away from pushing the team to reach new heights.
  • Operational Excellence: You’ll oversee the execution of HR programs that are tailored to Thumbtack’s unique needs, ensuring our HR programs are not just implemented, but executed with excellence.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Data is your friend. You’ll guide your team in turning numbers into insights, and those insights into actions that make a difference. Focusing on scalability and impact, you’ll make sure we’re always refining and optimizing our strategies.
  • Culture and Employee Advocacy: You’ll be a champion for Thumbtack’s culture, ensuring our values aren’t just talked about, but lived every day. Lead by example and make sure your team does the same with their client groups.
  • Change Management: Change is constant, and you’ll be the one helping your team navigate it smoothly. You will drive and lead other HRBPs in managing complex organizational changes, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and support for employees.
  • Collaborate Across People Team: You’ll work hand-in-hand with others on the People Team to create and execute strategies that make Thumbtack a place where people want to work. You’ll partner with teams like Recruiting, DEI, OD, and Total Rewards, to develop and implement integrated People strategies that support Thumbtack’s business objectives with a people-first approach.
