What you’ll be doing
As the Director, Indigenous Trusts, you are accountable for providing leadership and oversight to the Indigenous Trusts Team and may manage a small portfolio that is complex in nature. You will have direct accountability for the business deliverables and the effective operation of the Indigenous Trusts Team. You create a proactive client service environment, maximizing productivity and client servicing effectiveness by providing strategic direction and effective business planning. You will report to the Executive Director & COO, CIBC Trust.
Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How you’ll succeed

  • Client Engagement- Working with the Indigenous Banking – Trust Services Team to support the growth of the Indigenous market and enhance the client experience. Monitoring losses, client complaints and other corporate requirements in regard to client account administration and mentoring the team on technical aspects. Identifying systemic issues and/or trends and implementing changes to mitigate risk and close gaps.
  • Collaboration - Partnering effectively with internal experts from the Investment Management and Tax Department, to provide oversight and guidance on client investment and tax issues. Building strong relationships within CIBC including Indigenous Banking, Commercial Banking, Wood Gundy, CAMI and CPIC partners and external service providers.
  • Relationship building - Consulting with the Executive Trust Officer(s) matching account relationship profile (needs and objectives) and level of expertise and complexity with appropriate staff to ensure proper file management and client satisfaction.
  • Leveraging technical knowledge - Staying current on legislative changes, industry practices and social trends/technological advancements that impact clients (e.g. digital assets, social media, etc); Acting as rotating chair and participate in Management Discretionary Committee meetings. Challenging traditional methods of trust administration to better align with current digital advancements.
