Description:

Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries is a not-for-profit organization that has been caring for families in the GTA since 1826. We operate ten cemeteries, nine funeral centres and four cremation centres, all serving the distinct needs of the local communities where they are located. We are looking for a Director, Information Technology to join our team at our head office located on 65 Overlea Blvd in East York.
The Director is a key member of the senior leadership team and an essential contributor to the strategic planning and direction of the organization. They will leading a local team which will oversee the IT operations for the whole organization and have a critical role in identifying and communicating a future vision for the department, driving technological innovations, optimizing IT operations, liaising with other departments to ascertain their technological requirements and ensuring the organization’s IT infrastructure supports its strategic goals effectively. The Director leads a collaborative team of IT professionals, providing them with strategic leadership, structure and direction, managing their performance to fostering individual and collective growth and development, and ensuring consistently excellent service across the organization.
The Director will be a transformative leader with broad related experience who demonstrates the ability to innovate and provide diverse prospectives, identifying strategic opportunities amidst perceived challenges. They develop solutions, manage and implement projects that are aligned with the organization’s objectives and optimize operational effectiveness by leveraging excellent technical proficiency and professional insight. Together with superior project and people management skills, the Director will maintain a smooth, secure and updated technical operation within the organization.
Reporting to the CFO, the Director will be dedicated to building an inclusive team that enables MPG to better understand and connect with the diverse communities it seeks to serve. They will model their commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility through their words and actions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University or College degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • At least seven (7) years of related progressive experience
  • At least five (5) years in IT leadership roles
  • Previous experience in people-centered organization would be an asset
  • Highly developed leader with proven ability to inspire and motivate others towards a shared vision and values;
  • Advanced interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships within own team and with key stakeholders;
  • Proven skills in developing meaningful long-term financial forecasts and business plans as well as yearly operational and capital budgets;
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategies that align with organizational goals and drive business results;
  • Experience moving on-prem technologies to cloud-based systems
  • Strong technical expertise in network infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems administration, enterprise systems, network security, and cloud computing;
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and experience managing IT projects, teams, and budgets;
  • Experience implementing an E-commerce platform
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards, such as PIPEDA, and PCI DSS and experience in the operationalization of privacy policies and frameworks across large, client-serving organizations
  • Ability to explain complex solutions clearly and logically to audiences who are not technically inclined
  • Demonstrates exceptional cultural competency skills and the ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people of all communities and identities, including, but not limited to, those pertaining to race, faith, culture, ethnic origin, disability, gender, gender expression, economic status, language and others
  • Stay abreast of new and emergent technologies, and understanding how they may benefit our organization now and in the future. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Proven ability to communicate and work collaboratively in cooperation with customers, staff and other departments
  • Excellent priority setting, analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills with strong emphasis on delivery of customer service;
  • Excellent ability to present ideas, plans and changes to key stakeholders;
  • Excellent at guiding and supporting team members to help them do their best work for the organization; and,
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual capital and operational budgets ensuring cost-effective use of resources and alignment with organizational priorities
  • Analyze actual to budget variances regularly and initiate corrective actions, as required, in line with strategic goals, values and objectives
