Who we need:
Reporting to the Vice-President, Student Recruitment, the Director of International Student Recruitment is accountable for setting metric-driven targets and objectives, managing internal/external partnerships, driving funnel growth and optimal conversion performance, optimizing existing marketing performance, identifying strategic market expansion, achieving optimal geographic and source channel diversity, being at the forefront of international growth efforts and spearheading outbound international recruitment activities. Additionally, the Director of International Student Recruitment serves as a thought leader in the internationalization of YEC’s programs and procedures. What you will do:
- Design, implement and advance international student recruitment strategies informed by data and industry experience to meet the organization’s new student start growth targets, prioritizing diverse recruitment channels and tactics that lead to the greatest student source diversity and grow YEC’s overall international presence.
- Implement a centralized and intentional strategic international recruitment partnership strategy focused on establishing and nurturing relationships with members of government, recruitment agents and higher/secondary-education institution staff, reducing new student single-source dependency and increasing the organization’s profile as a leader in this vertical.
- Be the key institutional expert in trends, best practices, and policy changes that might impact the ability to achieve international recruitment targets and enable continuous and sustainable growth.
- Be the key decision driver in partner engagement including the development of policy and procedures that streamline and elevate YEC’s business relationships with third-party recruitment agencies and academic institutions.
- Build, iterate, and refine recruitment tactics in relation to pipeline management that most accurately reflect the required differentiated sales process implementation, and conversion performance protocols that are necessary to support industry-leading international recruitment performance and scalability.
- Build, propose, justify and sustain the yearly financial OPEX required to support and achieve the yearly international start targets while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Support and guide the marketing team in the development of differentiated international collateral, materials, promotional campaigns, and targeted performance marketing.
- Consistently seek feedback from student applicants, recruitment partners, institutional partners, and counterparts within the industry to maintain and elevate an industry-leading high-touch, consultative and seamless international student applicant journey, resulting in increased enrollments and enhanced organizational reputation.
- Lead offshore recruitment and sales efforts by maintaining and enhancing sales functions, processes and strategies; activating targeted, high ROI market tactics, driving both offshore and local international performance; making mid-cycle pivots if and where necessary to support increased student recruitment and revenue opportunities, to align with the corporate strategic imperatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across the organization on promotional initiatives, campus events, offshore events, and localized marketing initiatives and campaigns, to increase YECs international presence resulting in increased year over year start performance.
- Support senior leadership in the review of existing programs, policies, procedures, technologies and resources, and SLAs; and, implementation of innovative changes, to ensure an efficient international recruitment program.
- Act as the senior international student recruitment advisor for the organization.
- Act as a brand ambassador for the staff and faculty and promote a positive corporate culture that supports all EDI initiatives and progressive internationalization.
What you bring:
- 10+ years of experience in direct international student recruitment or education, including knowledge of the admissions and registrar processes, budget management and forecasting, campus operations and student support programs, as they specifically relate to international students; with experience at a senior management level.
- 5+ years of direct experience working with secondary and post-secondary partnerships specifically relating to the formation of MOU’s and articulation agreements.
- Adept at analyzing, synthesizing, and leveraging international recruitment-related data both internally and externally to respond to market changes and inform international recruitment behaviours.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, in marketing, business administration or a related discipline (or international equivalent).
- Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in lead generation, sales/recruitment techniques and strategies, marketing and communication strategies, and student support strategies, including but not limited to: current applicable legislation and compliance requirements; determining strategies for short-term goals; sharing of best practices and innovative approaches to optimize the student experience, sourcing opportunities to leverage technology; and fostering a team environment in support of the corporate strategic imperatives.
- Experience in people leadership, including approaches for team collaboration, fostering inclusive working environments, managing team objectives, coaching, performance management, conflict management and working with a variety of unique and diverse cultures.
- Experience in implementing localized international marketing campaigns and strategies through a variety of channels.
- Experience working a wide variety of global markets, and understanding of individual market demands as they relate to YEC program offerings
- Experience in leading remote/disbursed teams.
- Experience working in highly dynamic and fast paced settings and/or organizations with multiple transformation initiatives.
- Strong collaborator, academic business acumen and an ability to work in a complex environment.
- Advanced verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, with experience preparing and facilitating presentations; advanced MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams).
- Knowledge and experience working with a variety of languages and cultures is considered an asset.
