Description:
WHY WORK AT HCRA:
We foster a professional home building industry that Ontarians can trust.
The Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) is a not-for-profit corporation that is designated by the provincial government of Ontario to administer and enforce the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017 and associated regulations. HCRA holds licensed builders to professional standards, protects the public interest, and enhances consumer confidence in the homebuilding industry in Ontario. In addition, HCRA strives to educate consumers to ensure that they can make informed decisions and understand the benefits of a regulated homebuilding sector. As one of Ontario’s newest regulators, HCRA is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to everyone they serve.
HCRA provides a flexible, hybrid and collaborative work environment, with an array of benefits as well as considerable time off allowances. Additionally, as a mid-sized organization, team members have direct exposure to senior management on a regular basis and they get the opportunity to work on a range of assignments with significant responsibilities. By joining the HCRA, you’ll be a part of the establishment of a growing regulator that is passionate, engaged, forward-thinking and innovative.
WHAT THE POSITION IS:
We are seeking a highly strategic and innovative Director of IT and Information Management to join our Senior Leadership team, reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). This role is pivotal in shaping the Information Technology strategy and driving application development to support the HCRA’s regulatory mandate. The Director will oversee IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, data management, and technology application development to ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with both current and emerging business needs. In this collaborative role, you will work closely with the CAO, CEO, and Senior Leadership team to identify technology opportunities, provide strategic guidance on IT investments, and ensure that technology solutions support the strategic needs of the entire organization. You will lead an IT team of direct reports, and multiple independent contractors, all working together to provide comprehensive IT services to the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities for this role include developing and implementing the IT strategy in alignment with the HCRA’s mission, leading digital transformation initiatives, and managing IT operations, including network management, systems administration, and cybersecurity. You will also be responsible for identifying emerging technologies, evaluating their potential to enhance regulatory processes, and driving innovative solutions for data management and analysis. As the key IT leader, you will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, manage risk through robust security measures, and develop and, if necessary, implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans. In addition, you will lead a high performing IT team, set clear goals, and provide ongoing support and development opportunities, while fostering a collaborative and agile work environment.
