Scope
Reporting to the General Manager, Engineering, the Director, Land Development is responsible for the administration, leadership and operations of the Land Development division and serves as a member of the City’s engineering management team in the delivery of Council policies, priorities and projects. This role manages all aspects of engineering land development and building projects, while setting the department’s vision, direction, and priorities to address both current and future infrastructure needs
Responsibilities
Leads the strategic delivery of corporate, departmental and divisional objectives related to engineering land development activities within the City of Surrey.
Oversees the asset planning, design and construction processes.
Represents the Engineering Department at Council Land Use and Public Hearing meetings and Development Advisory Committee meetings.
Fosters partnership and customer service with development industry through expedited resolution of engineering issues.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and Surrey citizens to address concerns.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized university, and a minimum of 15 years of related experience, including 5 years in a management role; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Current membership, or ability to register with the Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C., as a P.Eng. or limited license holder would be an asset. Demonstrated understanding of the principles, methods, and practices of land development activities within a dynamic municipal setting. The role requires excellent interpersonal, communication and effective problem-solving abilities.
Other Information
Pay Range: M6 - $179,115 - $210,723
