DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
SickKids Foundation is seeking a corporate & commercial lawyer to support the Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer by providing general legal advice, consultation and opinions to all levels of the Foundation. With a service-delivery approach, this role will offer legal expertise on a variety of Foundation activities, including drafting and negotiating agreements, supporting risk management initiatives, ensuring privacy compliance, responding to intellectual property inquiries, providing employment law advice, assisting with policy development, and other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
- LL.B/J.D. Degree and minimum 7 years’ experience in corporate/commercial law with a particular focus on drafting of agreements;
- Licensed to practice in Ontario and in good standing;
- Experience in Charity Law considered an asset (not a requirement);
- Strong business acumen;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal);
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities while paying attention to detail;
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively, ability to be a persuasive advocate;
- Proactive, self-motivated, mission-driven attitude and approach; and
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and complex concepts, and working independently, without much direction, if necessary.
