QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree; with a major in marketing, communications, media relations of related program, coupled with 7+ years’ experience leading marketing, brand management, or marketing communications programs in complex or matrixed organizations. Experience with recruitment marketing in a post-secondary environment is preferred.
You bring 4+ years of proven leadership experience, the ability to inspire employees, promote a shared vision towards excellence and provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received and achieves effective results. You have an in-depth understanding of modern marketing best practices, and you are a natural problem solver with strong analytical skills to assess performance, identity opportunities, and affect positive change.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Brand Strategy & Integrated Marketing Communications, the Director, Marketing will lead university-wide strategic marketing planning and execution. The role will be a leader and mentor, providing oversight on various marketing and brand campaigns, profile and reputation-building strategies, as well as national and international recruitment marketing. The role will provide strategic advice and guidance to marketing communications staff and leaders across campus, and lead the execution of marketing campaigns and plans for Western University. The role will manage the strategic development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of a broad range of marketing campaigns that align to strategic priorities, with a goal of building and promoting Western’s brand and reputation locally, nationally, and internationally. The Director will manage the development and implementation of best practice processes and systems, with a focus on positioning Western as a having one of the strongest marketing teams of any university in Canada.
