Summary of job purpose
The individual will play a leading role within the business development function and wider organization. Primary responsibilities will be to grow order intake via the identification and execution of new business opportunities in new accounts. The individual will also work with colleagues and peers to expand business and cement relationships within certain established accounts to broaden Quotient’s reach within territory. Other external responsibilities such as B2B relationships and internal responsibilities such as mentoring will be expected to form part of the role. The individual will possess a high level of market awareness in early development as well as sharply focused business development skills.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Performance and behaviours exemplary of this leadership role, including the ability to positively influence personnel within the wider organization to achieve results.
- To deliver the territory sales target, achieved through the development of a strong deal pipeline.
- Drive the business development process, from the identification of initial opportunities, through the development of specific proposals, to delivery of a signed contract utilizing appropriate internal resources (e.g. Medical Science, Project Management) as appropriate.
- Research and identify potential client companies, initiate contact with relevant individuals. Arrange visits and present on the company’s vision, capabilities and expertise; develop relationships with key decision-makers, identify potential studies and win new business.
- Work with the marketing group to develop and implement tactical marketing plans for the territory to generate proactive enquires through the effective promotion of Quotient Clinical within the territory.
- Develop and extend relationships with existing customers to secure repeat business by working alongside the Project Management function who are responsible for the delivery of studies.
- Ensure the effective hand-over of projects from business development to Project Management and operational delivery.
- Build relationships with other divisions of Quotient Sciences to leverage cross-selling opportunities.
- Frequent travel within the territory is essential.
Qualifications and experience required for competent performance
- Educated to at least degree standard in a relevant Life Science.
- Successful track record of developing business within a service based organisation addressing the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
