Description:

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Director, Newcomer and Employment Services who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment; to our clients, families, and each other.
Accountable to the Senior Director, the Director, Newcomer and Employment Services provides direction to the Employment & Newcomer Services Programs operated by Wesley in Hamilton and Brantford. This includes the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP), Client Support Services (CSS), Housing Services for Newcomers, Employment Services, and Seniors Outreach Program.
The role works with the Managers for Resettlement Assistance, Client Support Services, Housing Services for Newcomers, and Employment Services to oversee operations for the programs that are aligned with Wesley’s vision, mission, values, and strategic plans.
This position is a non-unionized, full-time, temporary position. The contract is until December 31, 2025. The salary is $80,000 per year. Hours per week are 40.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to Managers and Supervisors to ensure the effective, efficient operation of the portfolio within the general policies and guidelines of Wesley, contractual obligations of the funder, and best practices for the sector.
- Lead the implementation of the vision for all programs and services within the portfolio, emphasizing continuous improvement, program development, and employment-focused initiatives that are aligned with Wesley’s strategic plan.
- Drive partnerships with industry, employers, and training providers to enhance employment services, foster job placement opportunities, and support career advancement for clients.
- Coach and mentor Managers and Supervisors using approaches aligned with the organization’s program of Invest in Our People.
- Oversee the execution of operational plans and the creation of project management documents for the portfolio that aligns with Wesley’s strategic plan and incorporates key metrics for the purposes of monitoring and evaluation.
- Provide support to Managers to develop Quality Improvement Plans for the portfolio that align with the operational plan.
- Work with Managers and Supervisors to incorporate government priorities and standards into program planning, evaluation, and recommendations.
- Work with the Senior Director to set program financial goals including the development of program budgets (including capital expenditures as applicable) as part of the annual planning cycle.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Marketing & Communications, other members of the Communication team, and Program Managers to provide program information and successes and ensure all digital platforms are accurate and up to date.
- Work with Managers and Supervisors to successfully navigate HR policies and procedures related to discipline and termination of employees and identify areas of risk related to HR to the Senior Director on an ongoing basis.
- Participate directly in the hiring of program Managers and Supervisors and act as the final approval for hiring of all full-time permanent staff.
- Participate as a member of the Program Operations and Program Management teams and contribute to organizational programs of work, strategic planning, and performance management.
