REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven non-profit experience leading and inspiring an ambitious team at both the strategic and operationallevels; experience in the animal welfare industry a plus.
  • Subject matter expert with comprehensive offline and digital marketing knowledge and planning and executingmarketing programs and events that accomplish desired outcomes within budget. Previous PR/mediaexperience is a plus. A portfolio of successful nonprofit marketing and fundraising programs is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex matters, leading to thoughtful recommendations,action plans, and results to increase awareness of HSSV’s mission-driven work.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner across department and all levels, ensuring that marketingefforts are aligned.
  • Must be high energy and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed goals in a fast-pacedenvironment. Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical/data-driven skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with internal and external audiences invarious communication styles and with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with online platforms, including CRM systems, marketing automation, social media, content, analytics, and advertising.
  • Expertise in design capabilities with Marketing materials including PowerPoint for presentations.
  • Basic knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite and expertise in social media and web content management.
  • Experience with WordPress is a plus.
  • Experience in finding and managing outstanding vendors who augment organizational capabilities, e.g., writers, photographers, and PR firms.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and leverage metrics relevant to marketing and to translate insights into action, including to refine strategies and/or tactics.
  • Enthusiastic approach to work, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to team building and culture.
  • Advanced project management skills, with demonstrated success in managing large projects, meeting tighttimelines, and attention to follow-up.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a high-performing team, including hiring, team building, training, goal setting, andperformance management.
  • Build programs and tools that enable HSSV to be a storytelling machine that inspires support and raisesawareness of the organization’s mission-driven impact.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing, communications, and outreach strategy to inspire action andpromote HSSV’s services to target audiences/demographic communities by integrating online and offlinechannels. This includes social media, video, website, blogs, digital platforms, print, public relations, promotions,and events.
  • Lead the Marketing team to promote consistent messaging and branding, including compelling collateral such asannual reports, program one-pagers, and signage that motivates diverse audiences through all channels.Oversee brand usage, including ongoing analysis of brand guidelines, logos, and templates. Ensure alldeliverables align with the HSSV’s mission, vision, and tone of voice.
  • Promote and actively demonstrate cross-collaboration and a “service culture” within the Marketing team as asupport system for all the departments at HSSV.Cultivate a culture of innovation that strives to achieve resultsthrough creativity and experimenting with different visual mediums.
  • Oversee the relationship with HSSV’s PR agency and other communications partners. Serve as the primary mediacontact, leveraging multiple voices to enhance HSSV’s message in media and advertising campaigns. Activelypitch story ideas about the organization to media outlets, as appropriate.
  • Build HSSV’s brand by designing and executing community events that increase awareness of our programs andsocial impact.
  • Develop and manage the annual Marketing department budget while achieving desired outcomes.
  • Partner with a core group of expert marketing service providers for the breadth and depth of skills needed todeliver successful marketing programs.
  • Attract and energize a talented pool of volunteers to increase the Marketing team’s capacity.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
