QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • University Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Organizational Studies, Business Administration or relevant discipline
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification
  • Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an asset

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience leading a team to implement operational and administrative procedures for a business
  • Strong people management experience with direct accountability for recruitment, on-going training and development, and performance management
  • Experience in the education or public sector is preferred
  • Knowledge of the music profession and/or experience working in a music environment would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Business acumen with an advanced understanding of quality standards relative to operational improvement, strategic planning and business growth
  • Advanced ability to effectively communicate, lead business discussions and train others
  • Demonstrated ability in financial modelling and human resource planning
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Working knowledge of project management and best practices
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on proposal development and presentation to internal contacts up to senior management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach team members as well as support internal/external clients
  • Creative problems solving skills and sound professional judgment, with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
  • Ability to synthesize sizable amounts of detail/data
  • Ability to identify, quantify and recommend controls to manage risk to an organization
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically about budget planning, revenue projections, and cost analysis
  • Results oriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of individual and team performance

Responsibilities:

The Director of Administration is accountable for management of the administrative operations of the Faculty of Music. The role manages the allocation of financial, human and physical resources and implements business processes to support the management of financial, operational and legal risk to the faculty. The Director develops and presents reports regarding Faculty challenges and successes and makes recommendations for administrative tactics, which will enable the Faculty to achieve its goals and strategies.
