Job Description:
The Director of Banquets is responsible for ensuring proper environment for successful functions and events at the Omni Parker House. Responsibilities include the set up and service of all banquet functions, supervising all banquet associates to ensure guest satisfaction, and maintain service standards. This is a leadership role responsible for training of associates to deliver the service commitment for the property in a manner that complies with Omni food and beverage standards and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage team functions and activities according to strategic direction from senior leadership and increased performance efficiencies, influencing change and new processes when appropriate.
  • Concentrate efforts on human-centered design that benefits not only the guest journey, but also creates authentic work experience for associates.
  • Coordinate all activities, represent guests internally and collaborate with leaders in varied areas to ensure success in projects and resource planning.
  • Design, research, develop, analyze and suggest new concepts, as well as strategies.
  • Ensure to exercise decision-making and independent judgment while being aligned with guest needs and management direction and budget guidelines.
  • Coordinate new initiatives with suitable contacts- internal and external.
  • Work with the Food and Beverage Team to drive excellence in guest satisfaction through the creation of positive experiences. Assist in training associates in order to meet the service commitment.

  • Maximizes profits in his department through effective management techniques keeping in mind at all times guest satisfaction.
  • Must stay updated on new food and wine trends. Sets the pace and a good example for a successful quality operation.
  • Prepare for and conduct departmental meetings.
  • Leadership Contribute to the leadership of Omni Parker House attending Food and Beverage Leadership meetings and showing active presence in the division. Find creative ways to develop an entrepreneurial culture with Omni’s business and social objectives.
  • Staff management – Empower the associates to maximize their contribution to the Omni Parker House. Support them to be flexible and work within and across teams, to be entrepreneurial and innovative in their use of affecting creative hospitality experiences.
  • Partnership working – Work with and through partners. Ensure high levels of performance, excellent communication and delivery
  • Budget management – ensure the most effective use of Omni Parker House resources and that all finances are properly accounted for

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma, plus five (5) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and/or education.
  • Event promotion/implementation and/or marketing experience preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be attentive to detail.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to unexpected situations.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Must be able to remain calm and portray a friendly demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Must hold TIPS and Food Handlers certifications upon hire
  • Must be available to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
