The Director of Building and Facilities Operations provides leadership and oversight to support the efficient, effective and environmentally sound operations of EMPath facilities. Providing a safe and secure environment for our participants and employees. You will oversee two direct reports: the Food Services and Facilities Coordinators. You will manage all contractors, provide vendor management and will ensure excellence in facility management, including janitorial and maintenance, and provide support for capital projects.
The Director partners with EMPath’s Housing Leadership to ensure the facilities and grounds meet a prudent level of quality and risk management compliance standards, support cost-effective operations and promote a positive working environment. This is an essential position, one that requires on-site availability even during inclement weather and rotating on-call responsibilities.
WHAT SKILLS DO YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE?
- Creativity – a technically skilled tradesperson who can identify issues and come up with creative solutions for facility projects
- Relationship builder – Manage vendor relationship and partner with landlords to ensure vendor outcomes; risk management and fiscal responsibility.
- Hands on – This is a working manager role, you will be part of the ongoing maintenance and repair and backing up your small and agile facility staff. Keeping in close contact with our janitorial contractor across all of our locations in Boston area
- Planning - Proactively identifies, purposes, and executes a strategic plan to mitigate risk and hazards to participants and staff. Identify capital projects, develops compelling ROI and works with Development to coordinate funding and complete projects with outside contractors
- Take ownership of Safety – monitoring standard operating procedures for facility operations, including safety and security systems
- Financial skills - Partner with Finance to plan annual budget and forecast expenses
