Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Campus Ministry serves as a dynamic and passionate leader, providing vision and direction for all campus ministry initiatives. You will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that nurture students’ spiritual growth, build a vibrant Catholic community, and foster interfaith dialogue.
The Department of Campus Ministry plays a vital role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports the spiritual, emotional, and social well-being of all UP students. We provide opportunities for students to explore their faith, engage in service learning, and build a strong sense of community.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in theology, pastoral/ministry or related field required
- Master’s preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Catholic campus ministry or a relevant field.
- A practicing Catholic with a strong understanding and appreciation for the Catholic faith. The candidate must be comfortable working with young adults and committed to upholding the Catholic character, mission, and identity of the University of Providence community.
- Demonstrated leadership skills that are collaborative, effective, and focused on pastoral care and spiritual development of undergraduate students.
- Strong organizational and management skills, including sound judgment, appropriate confidentiality, and responsible budget management.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the Providence charisms, mission, core values, and relevant Church documents related to Campus Ministry (e.g., Empowered by the Spirit, Sons and Daughters of Light).
- Familiarity with Catholic sacramental preparation processes, particularly baptism, confirmation, Eucharist, RCIA, and funerals.
- Experience working with young adults or in college campus ministry is a preferred qualification.
Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Leadership:
- Build and coordinate a comprehensive program encompassing liturgical events, faith development initiatives, retreats, service learning, and social justice activities.
- Facilitate goal setting and resource allocation with the campus ministry team.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies for student participation and scholarships.
- Foster interfaith dialogue and collaboration with other religious denominations.
- Create program structure and report on participation and feedback.
Spiritual Formation and Worship:
- Provide opportunities for liturgical participation and spiritual growth for the University community.
- Organize and oversee liturgical life in coordination with University leadership.
- Coordinate the RCIA program and offer on/off-campus retreats and spiritual programming.
Facilitate spiritual experiences for students of diverse faith traditions.
Student Development and Outreach:
- Organize and support initiatives for faith and leadership formation.
- Provide pastoral care and counseling to students, faculty, and staff.
- Present in classes and form students as missionary disciples.
Conduct general outreach and facilitate inter-religious opportunities.
Social Justice and Mission Engagement:
- Encourage student volunteerism and ethical leadership development.
- Organize service projects and promote social justice awareness.
Coordinate annual mission trips and related activities.
Administration and Management:
- Manage the budget for Campus Ministry and Trinitas Chapel.
- Evaluate program quality and personnel performance.
- Oversee and provide guidance for the campus ministry staff.
- Participate in professional development and university committees.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
