From transport to housing, from business growth to skills, the MCA has a great story to tell. We have ambitions to deliver recovery and renewal for people, businesses and places across South Yorkshire.
Please note that SYMCA follows a structured salary grading system for all roles, and the offered salary for each post will be at the starting point within the specified grade. We value the skills and experience of potential candidates, and there will be opportunities for salary enhancements as you grow within South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
Key Responsibilities
As Director of Change and Citizen Experience you will provide a significant contribution to the creation of a meaningful overall vision, and purpose-led strategy for the Combined Authority that translates into delivery for the public. You will contribute significantly to the drive of a customer-focused culture and commitment to quality services within and across the organisation, putting residents and their attitudes, behaviours and beliefs at the heart of our strategies and plans.
A key part of this role will be to identify and evaluate opportunities and risks, developing direction of travel and scanning the external political environment to anticipate impact of external factors and future issues. You’ll positively challenge current thinking and respond appropriately by leading change. You’ll be leading work to transform how we deliver our engagement with a focus on continuous improvement and excellent customer experience across the organisation.
You will be responsible for developing approaches to allow the MCA to gain a greater insight into the views and ambitions of our communities to enable the design of services which meet our residents’ expectations and support us to evidence our impact. You’ll also be responsible for the review and development of a plan to create a compelling and unified offer to support people to choose public transport or active travel in South Yorkshire.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You will have proven extensive leadership experience delivering transformational change in complex operating environments. It’s important that you have a significant executive leadership experience in developing strategies, plans, and programmes with strong commercial acumen. Ideally, you’ll have good knowledge of a Combined Authority’s partnership, stakeholder, and political landscape, but more importantly you’re an innovative and creative thinker able to develop fresh and new approaches to deliver transformation across a range of policy disciplines. You’ll have exceptional communication skills with the ability to forge partnerships and establish relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, with the ability to influence and engage others and generate support for, and commitment to, the MCA’s vision and plans. In this role you will need to be highly flexible, adaptable, and resilient to meet and embrace changing circumstances and demands. It’s crucial that you have highly developed decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses on a very wide range of issues across diverse areas of responsibility.
