The Communications Branch of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources is seeking a highly skilled, creative, and motivated communications expert to lead a small but strong team of dedicated communications professionals promoting the responsible development of Saskatchewan’s resource sectors.
This position provides the opportunity to be at the forefront of sectors shaping the future of Saskatchewan’s economy. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the Director implements strategic communications to help achieve Saskatchewan’s Growth Plan goals in growing the oil and gas, mining, and forestry sectors. The Director assists in preparing the Ministry’s strategic plan and budget, provides advice to senior management, staff, and the Minister’s Office. Superior verbal and written communications skills, interpersonal skills, leadership, and the capacity to excel in high-pressure situations are also necessary. In addition, excellent organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to motivate, coach and manage performance of staff are required. Knowledge of social media, marketing and data analytics would be an asset.
Typically, the skills and knowledge for this position will have been gained through a university degree in journalism, communications, or related field of study, combined with several years (five to ten) of experience in media and corporate communications or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and track record of achievement. Based in Regina, this position will allow you to leverage your collaborative leadership skills, passion, and strategic orientation in an environment that holds deep-rooted values of Respect and Integrity, Serving Citizens, Excellence and Innovation, and Acting as One Team.
Appreciation and knowledge of Saskatchewan’s vibrant energy and resources sectors will be an important key to the Director’s success. Understanding the environment and political landscape in which the Ministry operates will also be valuable.
We are committed to workplace diversity.
