Description:

1WorldSync is the industry leader in product content management. With 600 employees across the US, Brazil, Canada, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, and the UK, we’re seeking a Director of Data to support our growing global team.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Director of Data will play the lead role in our Data team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and develop the data team, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals. You will collaborate with various departments to empower them with data-driven insights, oversee data governance, and guide the company’s data strategy. Additionally, you will standardize data usage across teams, report on data initiatives to C-level executives, and assess the feasibility of projects to ensure data readiness and accountability throughout the organization.
As a Director of Data, responsibilities include the following:
- Manage and develop the data team to ensure their growth and performance align with the company’s strategic objectives,
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, efficiency, and the achievement of personal and business goals .
- Collaborate with various departments, empowering teams through data-driven insights.
- Simplify complex data concepts for clear communication across the organization.
- Oversee data governance to ensure data integrity and security.
- Direct and guide the company’s data strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Plan and oversee the transition of data systems to support data science, analysis, and application needs.
- Standardize data usage and definitions across teams, ensuring a unified data glossary.
- Report the evolution and status of data initiatives to C-level executives.
- Assess project feasibility and conduct proof of concepts to determine data viability.
- Ensure accountability and goal orientation across all data-related activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role with a strong foundation in analytical capabilities, data science, AI, and machine learning.
- 3+ years of experience in Python, BigQuery, Java, Dataflow, Apache Beam, TensorFlow/PyTorch.
- 1+ year of experience working with cloud architectures and services, including GCP (Vertex AI, GCS, Compute Engine) and AWS (SageMaker, S3, EC2).
- 1+ year of experience working with predictive analytics and with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- High-level knowledge of data science, analysis, and engineering.
- Proven track record of successful delivery and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly and innovatively resolve issues by assembling the appropriate resources.
- Experience with JIRA and Scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with Google Tool Suite.
- Familiarity with A/B test theory and practice, including methodologies such as p-tests and Bayesian approaches, and awareness of early-stopping caveats.
- Experience with e-commerce data challenges and metrics.
- Ability to perform coding tasks and create small proof-of-concepts (POCs) to validate MVPs.
