Description:
Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with a Syracuse client of his that is looking to hire a Director of Distribution. This is a Monday - Friday, first shift role that has solid benefits and a really good bonus. In this leadership position, you’ll be tasked with overseeing our distribution operations, developing strategic plans to ensure efficient product distribution, maintaining high service levels, and enhancing cost-effective delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement distribution strategies to support organizational goals, including timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and develop distribution team, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and accountability.
- Oversee daily operations across distribution centers, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, inventory management, and timely deliveries.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for distribution performance, including order accuracy, lead times, cost control, and customer satisfaction.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and customer service.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, transportation companies, and suppliers to ensure high service levels and cost efficiency.
- Develop and manage the distribution budget, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
- Analyze financial and operational data to improve distribution profitability and make data-driven decisions.
- Ensure all distribution operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and training programs to maintain a safe work environment across all facilities.
- Optimize technology systems for improved efficiency and performance in distribution operations.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the distribution industry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions
