Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in a comparable role is required, including familiarity with facilities components and building systems (HVAC, electrical, building exteriors, etc.), with proven supervisory & leadership skills and previous experience within a unionized environment.
- Prior experience and knowledge of federal, provincial and local regulations, codes, protocols, and procedures pertinent to public sector engineering and construction activities, as well as knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering design principles, as applicable to construction/renovation is required
- Proven skills with project planning and project management; as well as experience with holding a key role in project budgeting and fiscal management of facilities.
- Working knowledge of engineering and construction records management principles and procedures, as well as a detailed experience with capital and operating budgeting procedures
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office; prior experience working with hotel automation systems
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt as necessary, while taking initiative and being a self-starter
- Highly organized and process oriented, while displaying and ensuring accountability of self and team members
Additional Information
Responsibilities:
- Support & Maintenance:
- Provide leadership to the property Engineering and Maintenance department, ensuring the optimal care of facilities and guest spaces.
- Oversee property-specific preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety processes, coordinating with external contractors when necessary.
- Capital Project Management:
- Lead on-site coordination for refurbishment and infrastructure capital projects.
- Review and approve plans, specifications, and designs in collaboration with ownership groups and stakeholders.
- Maintain and ensure the long-term success of all projects post-renovation.
- Policy Development:
- Establish engineering and construction policies and systems aligned with hotel goals and strategic plans.
- Assist department heads in the planning, approval, and implementation of operating and technology capital projects.
- Contract & Budget Compliance:
- Ensure all engineering projects adhere to contract requirements, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for engineering department.
- Collaboration & Relationships:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with hotel departments, corporate offices, purchasing teams, ownership groups, and external contractors.
- Represent the company in all interactions, ensuring alignment with Accor’s service standards and values.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local legislation, corporate policies, and safety protocols.
- Maintain proper storage for all FF&E, ensuring cleanliness, security, and organization.
- Responsible for all Fire, Life & Safety related equipment, their reliable functionality and regular maintenance to comply with code.
- Sustainability & Environmental Goals:
- Develop and implement goals focused on sustainability and reducing carbon impact.
- Track and report on the hotel’s environmental footprint and drive sustainability initiatives.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and re-engineer engineering operations, formulating policies and strategies for improved efficiency and performance.
- Personnel Management:
- Oversee and assist in supervising engineering personnel, including work allocation, recruitment, and performance management.
- Ensure smooth operations in a unionized environment, addressing issues related to productivity and problem resolution
