- MINIMUM FIVE (5) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE REGION OF HIRE:

• In a Director of Engineering role.
• With Hospitality or Property Management and Operations.
• With Capital Projects.
• Mentoring colleagues.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field required.
• Fluent with engineering industry terminology and practices.
• Ability to coordinate and cross-reference design drawings from multiple disciplines.
• Solid understanding of hotel planning principles.
• Operated and Maintained a Computer Maintenance Management System [CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System)]
• Experience with Building Monitoring Systems (BMS) and its operation
• Experience with Guest Room Control Systems and the sequence of operation
• Experienced in Renovations
• Experienced in project management.
• Experienced in New builds.
• Solid understanding of Environmental Social & Governance (ESG) and the ability to lead initiatives.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and be willing to accept assignments on as need basis, in order to promote teamwork. This may include some evenings, weekends and holidays.
• A strong work ethic, adaptability, flexibility, and leadership skills.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of managing diverse teams.
• Knowledge of local regulations, building codes, and safety standards in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle several projects/deadlines
• Possess problem-solving and technical skills including a strong grasp of engineering principles

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Engineering oversees the Engineering team responsible for all engineering operations to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and efficiency of the hotel’s infrastructure.
• Manage the engineering budget, forecast expenses, and negotiate contracts with external vendors and service providers.
• Control labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control while focusing on creative cost control to maximize profit in the division and hotel.
• Responsible for Life/Fire safety systems, energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and safety standards, including fire, health, and environmental policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to support guest satisfaction and maintain the hotel’s luxurious image and brand standards.
• Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies in the hospitality industry, implementing innovations to enhance guest experiences and operational efficiency.
• Partner with Internal/External Stakeholders regarding Sustainability Initiatives & Chair the committee.
