Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, planning, and strategy for a group of companies within the renewable energy, logistics, and transportation sectors. This role requires ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing cash flow, optimizing profitability, developing financial forecasts, and managing the day-to-day operations and execution. The Director will collaborate closely with the executive team to support strategic financial decision-making and drive sustainable growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management or director-level position.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial planning.
  • 3 years of experience in capital-intensive industries such as renewable energy, construction, or logistics.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cash flow management, profitability analysis, and financial forecasting.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or a relevant master’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • CPA designation is required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • In-depth knowledge of financial management and capital-intensive industries.
  • Expertise in the financial policies and practices of construction and logistics industries.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and driving organizational change.
  • Proficiency in budget modeling, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with Office 365 and financial software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented and consultative environment.
  • High level of discretion, problem-solving abilities, and sound judgment, especially when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop a financial strategy that aligns with solar farm construction growth, sustainable growth of residential and commercial solar, and logistic

  • Annual budgeting process
  • Quarterly reports and forecasting
  • Long term financial strategy that aligns with future/strategic goals and objectives that focuses on sustainable growth
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards for financial monitoring
  • Identify threats to organizational sustainability
  • Manage risks
  • Manage the day-to-day operations including cash flow and capital structure that supports liquidity requirements of companies’ utility scale construction
  • Organize and enhance Zoho books
  • Increase automation
  • Build reporting and analysis functions
  • Develop and execute financial processes and process improvements including internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance (local, provincial and federal) with all financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Maintaining financial records
  • Lead financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting and scenario analysis for solar and logistics

  • Manage relationships with investors, banks, and insurance institutions.

Responsibilities:

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in securing external financing for renewable energy projects and business expansions, including loans, grants, and investor funding.
  • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring compliance with Canadian payroll taxes, WSIB contributions, and employee benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure salary scales and benefits packages are financially sustainable.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed.
