Description:

We are seeking a Director of Finance to join our team based in Spring Valley, California. This role is essential to our non-profit organization, focusing on overseeing all accounting operations, developing budgets, managing financial systems, and leading the accounting team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a variety of accounting operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with other department heads.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide insights and recommendations for adjustments.
  • Implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasts, and reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Manage and optimize the organization’s financial management software and systems to ensure data integrity and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Oversee the financial management of grants and restricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors.
  • Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue and costs, as well as program budgets and expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for financial and tax reporting.
  • Prior experience in a senior financial management role within the non-profit sector is required
  • Proficiency in financial software, preferably ADP - Financial Services and QuickBooks
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Ability to manage financial auditing processes and ensure compliance with regulations and standards
  • Demonstrated leadership in budget processes, including planning, forecasting, and reporting
  • Experience in grant accounting is highly desirable
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to report financial information to non-finance professionals
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree or CPA is preferred
  • Proven ability to develop and implement financial strategies in line with organizational goals.
